Happy newish year! I come to you with, as they say, some news. Today is my last day at Sports Illustrated. It’s been a hell of a ride. I know how to edit print magazines now and how to balance that work with editing on the internet. I also met a ton of wonderful people and wrote a lot of stuff I’m proud of. Here are a few of my favorite stories from the past four years:
- One of my many features on the nationwide attack on trans athletes
- A Lolo Jones profile
- Walking away from the NBA
- What we talk about when we talk about “mental toughness”
- Athletes and psychedelics
- From April 2020 (yikes): How the pandemic was affecting elite athletes’ mental health
- On perhaps my favorite subject, Nickelodeon
As for my next steps? I’ll be freelancing a lot as a writer, (copy) editor, and teacher.
Plus, I hope to have more about a new big project to share with you fairly soon.
