Finding Renée Richards will be in bookstores and libraries near you in just about two months. Last month I shared some praise from early readers. Now, more feedback has started rolling in. I’m thrilled to have received a couple of starred reviews! One from Publishers Weekly:
[FRR] is as much a paradoxical portrait of a reluctant forerunner as it is a fraught intergenerational debate.
And another from Booklist:
Kliegman is a compassionate and thoughtful interviewer, and their conversations with Richards are enlightening.
Town & Country thinks the book is a hot beach read, and I don’t see why not. Kirkus had nice things to say too.
Hark! Two book events!
- New York, August 24: Astoria Bookshop is graciously hosting my first event. I’ll be in conversation with Changeover author Giri Nathan. The exact location is still TBD, but you can RSVP here and let the store know you’re interested in coming.
- Boston, September 16: New Yorker writer Louisa Thomas and I will be at Brookline Booksmith. RSVP here.
There should be more to come on this front.
Other important news
- I went on You’re Wrong About to tell Sarah the history of women’s baseball.
- I moderated a panel in May at the BIO conference called Queering Biography. You’ll just have to trust me that it was pretty cool.
- I bought a silly little keychain camera. Penelope is deeply unamused.
