More book and non-book news

More book publicity! Also, three new articles I’m quite proud of.

Happy Friday! I can’t believe Mind Game has been out almost a month. As ever, signed copies are available for pickup or shipping at Astoria Bookshop.

Other new work

The freelance grind continues apace. I have a few new articles out that I’m really proud of.

For Slate, I wrote about Quiet on Set, a compelling new documentary series about abuse behind the scenes on old Nickelodeon shows tied to Dan Schneider. You may recall that I write about Nickelodeon from time to time, usually about slime and other goofy shit. This article was not that, obviously, but I think it’s important if you make something your beat to cover it thoroughly, even when the story is less than pleasant.

Also for Slate, I interviewed the comedian Mo Welch, a queer women who tells actually funny jokes about women’s sports. A miracle, I know. She was a delight. And for Them, I returned to the trans-athlete beat, this time focusing on the anti-trans sports ban on Long Island’s Nassau County.

More soon, I hope!
